In a couple of months, Neptune will move into Aries and start a new cycle in the zodiac. The last time Neptune entered Aries was in 1861, coinciding with the start of the American Civil War. While much has been said about the social shifts this transit may bring, I want to look primarily at the implications for business and the economy.
Neptune in Aries: economic developments in the previous cycle
The previous Neptune in Aries transit was a time of growth for the steel and iron industries. Mining reached new heights, as metals were needed to provide weapons for the wars and conflicts of the time.
It wasn’t just the American Civil War in which opposing visions and ideals clashed. Attempts at territorial expansion were similarly made in large parts of Europe and South America. The Austro-Prussian war, for example, was fuelled not just by rising nationalism, but disputes over liberal or conservative political order.
To fund the conflicts, states first introduced and in many cases, significantly increased, taxes that companies were required to pay. The additional levies were used to fund the manufacturing of military equipment and training of fighters, and essentially sped up the transition away from agricultural to an industrialised economies, by subsidising the latter.
The Advance of the Idealists from 2025 to 2039
The coming Neptune in Aries transit will see an advance of the idealists. New ideals and visions will try to find a foothold in our world, and then fight to conquer new terrain.
While we will probably see fights over land and resources repeat between 2025 and 2039, the battle will also be fought on new frontiers, including the virtual world, space and the mental realm.

Boom and bust of the weapons industry
Neptune in Aries transits fuels dream of conquest and territorial expansion. As such, we can expect the weapons and defence industry to grow. Countries may increase military budgets and spending and new weapons may be developed.
However, the idealism of Neptune can easily go too far in the fast-paced sign of Aries. When ideals no longer correspond to reality, military technology will find itself in a bubble and the market may quickly collapse.
New ideals, standards and regulations for mining natural resources
We may see new ideals and standards around how we extract natural resources as Neptune forms a conjunction to Saturn in early 2026. Perhaps mining will be regulated to match environmental ideals and social expectations. New minerals or metals could be discovered, and we may see new methods of resource extraction.
Political conflicts over natural resources could also be fought. Countries could try to claim territories for their wealth of precious metals, water and other resources.
A stream of migrants
As Neptune represents the collective ideal, shared visions of exploration (Aries) and a sense that “the grass is greener elsewhere” can lead to a steady stream of emigrants and immigration. While mass migration could put national economies under significant pressure, it may also offer new economic opportunities.
Blurring and redefinition of national boundaries
New political ideals – coupled with migration and resource discoveries – can also lead to disputes over territories and their ownership. We have already seen first signs of a possible redefinition of national boundaries in the past few months (e.g. the US wanting to swallow Canada and Greenland, Russia claiming the Crimea and Donbass regions as its territory, etc.).
While some of these boundaries may be redefined at the state level, the previous Saturn-Neptune conjunction suggests that the blurring of boundaries may extend primarily to the economic, political and social ideals of different land areas.
After all, the previous conjunction coincided with the fall of the Iron Curtain, in which the ongoing tensions between capitalism and communism were relieved, with the collective proclaiming capitalism as a winning model (as this was adopted by many formerly communist countries).
Dreaming of the first man on Mars
As claims are made to new territories on Earth, dreams to look further and discover the depths of space may also resurface. With Neptune representing both ideals and illusions, it remains to be seen whether we will indeed send the first man to Mars in the upcoming decade.
That said, the strong vision (Neptune) of travelling to Mars (ruling planet of Aries), will probably lead to significant investments in space travel and related technologies.
Early exploration of virtual worlds
As Neptune moves into Aries, more and more people will explore the ‘territories’ and ‘resources’ of the virtual world.
Video games like Minecraft already allow people to fight for and claim ownership to ‘digital land’, but throughout this transit the idea of virtual space, terrain and resources will likely prompt more people to explore. The exploration and conquest of virtual environments (which I call ‘virtual land grab’) is only the beginning of a trend towards virtual ownership that continues as Neptune moves into Taurus in the 2040s.
Data and crypto mining
Along with the fight for virtual land, the Neptune in Aries transit will also see the exploration of new virtual resources. This can be a promising time for both data and crypto mining, but – in classic Neptune in Aries fashion – the markets for these technologies can still be very volatile, going through a long phase of booms and busts before we see some stability.
After all, Neptune is not yet influenced by Taurus, which demarcates his territory, but remains in the adventurous sign of Aries, where he can conquer new territories and claim resources through his inspiring vision.
We can also expect lies, illusions and deceit around virtual resources – with a high risk for overoptimistic, spur-of-the-moment promises that will be hard to realise.
How to use the Neptune in Aries transit for your business
During the Neptune in Aries transit, you can quickly implement new visions and ideals in your business, act immediately when inspiration strikes and bring your dreams to life. But beware of fighting too passionately for your ideals and encroaching on the territory of others – other peoples’ dreams may not always correspond with yours.
The transit also lends itself well to mergers and acquisitions and the expansion into unchartered territory, so long as these activities are fuelled by a strong vision or ideal.
Pluto and Uranus changing signs
Another important cycle in astrology, is the Pluto-Uranus cycle. Pluto has entered Aquarius in November 2024, and Uranus will move into Gemini later in 2025. Read more about the expected economic and technological impact of the Pluto-Uranus cycle here.
